Damn I already see myself getting addicted to this... So mony guitarists on one site... Sounds like fun!
Anyhow, the name is Jacques, all the way (or down the road if you are near) from Pretoria! BULLS SUCK THO!!
Lived in spain for 2 years where I met a Russian/Ukranian/Argentinian guitar shredder! That guy was truelly insane, we grew close friends and he really inspired me to take up guitaring. Although it took me 4 years back in SA to finally get off my rusty dusty and learning a couple of chords on an old Yamaha F310.That was in 2006... it went well... Soon i knew most basic chords and some chord progressions, then it grew to getting Guitar Pro, learning a couple of my favorite songs on there, playing away "nothing else matters" and "californication" on that F310... I got the hang of it. MY interest then grew to heavier stuff and since "chop suey" didn't sound too nice on an old F310 in drop D, with strings that are appearantly the one's Moses's son used to seranade the mongooses on the arc, i bought my first elecrtic guitar and small little amp. I loved it, I sounded like Kirk Hammet (when he was 3) rocking away in my bedroom.
My skill level improved to where I joined a church band and bought myself a better rig after guitaring took over my life and was the thing i lived for. Got myself an Epiphone Les Paul and a Marshall JCM900 Dual Reverb combo ? and a bunch of pedals (It all happened this year) and i finally started going somewhere and sounding like something. Eventually 2 little monsters decided to break my cars window and take my guitar and pedalbag... luckely the JCM is a big boy!! They could not carry it aswell before I started chasing them... I was busy watching How i Met your Mother when i heard my car's alarm.... in my security estate btw... They had already jumped the fence and got away with about R20k worth of stuff. I went after them but they vanished... Insurance paid out R5000 and that is my story how i ended up playing my old Ibanez through my JCM900 and slowly but surely growing pedalboard.
Guitar at the moment: Ibanez GSA 60 ( ☹ )
Through: Ibanez tuner, Tubescreamer TS9, and Boss DD-20
Into: Marshall JCM900 Dual Reverb Combo
And honestly it sounds quite good. Still in the process of buying a Route 66 and Cry Baby Wah and a nice MXR dyna Comp.
AND WHEN I HAVE THE MONEY A NEW GUITAR... AGAIN! But the cheapy Ibanez is doing alright for now. Typical Ibanez tone absense but it's comfortable and sounds okay through my amp.
At the moment I am jamming another band aswell and if all goes well music would be my carreer hopefully in the near future!
So yeah that's my story, would love to get to know some of you, talk some tone, gear, jokes! AND I WELCOME MYSELF TO THE FORUM!!

And btw that old Yamaha got stolen inside my car's boot together with my car and hubbly... sad days!!

Theft... what's that? ? (I am from Namibia) I have heard rumours that it does happen around here, but I think that's all "urban legend" stuff. lol
Jokes aside, I'm still new on here too, but welcome anyway. Look forward to seeing and hearing a lot more from you.
Oh yeah, maybe that pedalboard can grow a little faster if your pedals are a little cheaper. I build my own.
