Help - Practice/travel guitar advice ?

Hey all - some urgent advice needed

After recently getting back into playing electric after a number of years absence (from mind, body and all guitar playing ?) I decided to start with lessons as well. What I didn't factor in is the business commitments which take me away from home more than I would like. I am now faced with the dilemma of either cancelling the lessons as it is a waste of money (and time if I am not practicing) or getting a practice guitar that is easily transportable. (For example I have only been able to practice twice in two weeks due to travel). Has anyone had experience with the Yamaha silent guitar and are there any other alternatives and recommendations?

I need to cancel lessons this week or make a plan very soon.

I had a Taylor Baby before but, while it is a great little guitar, the neck/fret size etc worries me if it is to become a predominant practice instrument for scales etc.

In short.... Help!!!!

Dud,do u whana have an acoustic for this,or an electric?

If its an electric ur after,check ou the epi ''weevee'' and ''weepaul'' think they only have one octave,thus only 12 frets and they only have a bridge pickup...but there very small an lite...they also come with littel battery powerd amps...

So ja,compakt and lite...

And i think u can get them on take2.co.za under the usa musical instruments section...

could maybe use something like that with a vox amplug?

From what I can tell on the Yamaha site, the silent guitar frame can be removed to make it more compact - essentially giving you a plank with strings ?
Also, they mention that you could use headphones for practice, so I assume you wouldn't need something like the Vox Amplug (which works very nicely, by the way)

Looked at Take 2 and they don't have the Epi Pee Wee. Any other ideas folks.

Was also looking at maybe a Korg P5XD pandora as well.

Are you traveling to the same destination all the time? If so could you not keep a guitar at the other end?

Steinberger guitars make awesome travel instruments - especially the old "cricket bat" composite ones. The modern ones aren't bad either.

The Yammy Silent guitars are pretty nice, I like the feel, plus they have the headphone amp built in. They are still full length though.

The Martin Backpacker is pretty small too, but is still an acoustic, i.e. prone to being smashed.

Unfortunately I stay in different hotels and in various parts of the country. But good idea if I was and had 4 extra guitars ?

Alan & Vick, those look great but pretty pricy for the purpose. I think the Epi's ar going for about $300 so will look at possibly impirting one.
