Japanese Strat clip- texas special pickups

Just a short clip to demo the tones from a set of texas special strat pickups.

Cool sounding clip...nice playing as well.

I loved the Texas Special bridge pup in my CIJ 68RI, I ended up swopping out the neck and bridge for some Di Marzio Virtual Vintage noiseless pups.
My buddy put the Texas Specials in his Strat, still in today and his Strat tone kills, especially since he's put 12's on it. ?

Im looking for a bridge pup for my Jap Strat..
Got Kinman woodstocks' for neck and middle ,

At the moment I have a quarter pounder staggered (Seymour duncan) in the bridge
Its a bit too high output... I would prefer more detail/ character.

The tone sounds a bit thin at times, I think my cellphone was a bit far from the amp. But anyway, I like these pups ?

Is that a Maple fretboard I'm seeing?
Are you sure it's a 62RI, should have a rosewood board?

I cant see clearly, is the top middle scratchplate screw between the neck and middle pickups, or close to the middle pup?
And, the truss rod nut, is it on the headstock or down at the bottom of the neck?

Yeh it is a maple board. I probably screwed up the which RI this is lol. The truss rod screw is at the bottom of the neck. Not sure which pick guard screw you are referring to, but here is a pic.

For someone who isn't a strat guy, this one isn't too bad ?

Being a Gilmour fanboy means I love my Strats, and the Made in Japan (pre 97), and Crafted in Japan, after 97 are definitely my favourites.

The problem is, if you've been playing a Les Paul for a few weeks and then you go back to one of your Strats...it takes a while for the ears and fingers to get used to the 'change'.
The thickness in tone and sheer power of the Les Paul is just amazing...but so is the quack of a Strat. ?

I really dig Gilmour's tone. I have noticed the same switching from a LP to the strat. I have to get use to the feel of the longer neck, and I play it completely differently, because the sustain and power of the humbuckers make certain things feel effortless. But I have to say, a strat through a fender amp is a thing of beauty. Never fell in love with the overdriven tone from single coils though, unless it is on the verge of breakup. There are exceptions though ?
