Here's this weeks challenge Riaan wrote Ok, so Manfred and I jointly decided on this one after combining some ideas: "Bollywood Ringtone" The idea is to come up with a catchy tune that could be used as a ringtone on you cellphone, but a tune that has an "eastern influence" sound to it. Eastern is used in the widest sense and could include an oriental, indian or arabic sound. Now put that in your hookah and smoke it ? Edit: Entries to be in by 6pm 12 October 2009

mine sucks dog balls, only got to doing it about an hour ago. Um... listen at your own peril. I didn't really put much into it, and not extremely happy with it... sigh :'(

Honestly i dont even think mine sounds close to middel-eastern, only the middel part.
Aldough i think i nailed the ringtone part, he he . ?

I am excited to hear everyones entries, to what their interpretation would be it would be.

Finally got a spare hour to work on a entry. Not sure its eastern, probably not a ringtone either... But at least I had fun doing it. ?

I battled especially with the timing, to make it authentic. must have done about 25 takes.

I went the far eastern route... Very basic, very short - only 14secs. Also no fancy scales, just a variation on the good old Em-pentatonic. Sounds vaguely ringtonish, in a 90' nokia kinda way!

Wow, I'm so glad I'm not the only one who feels nervous.

One thing I've noticed is that I need to work on my timing. I blame it on the classical where bad timimg is put down to "interpretation".

I know bollywood music is about polished production, with lots of effects, and that's where my recording falls short, but I had to enter anyway.
