hello all right so 1st lets just confirm this coming sat 10th october will be the acoustic day /social at keira's place
right we need to know who alls coming ....... rather if you in doubt reply that you will be here. if less people come it will be easier to deal with than if we prepare for 20 and 60 arrive...........so can we start a list please......
right I (keira) will co ordinate this .... but just ask that we get the main organisation done by thursday as i have a fri night show and so won't be online ........
ok so 1. lets get a list of people coming , maybe just mention say keira +2 ect to how many are in your family group.... remember family kids ect are welcome...... so are any acoustic music related friends......
as for what to bring we will settle that in the week but i guess it's simple....... own meat own drink and one salad per family group to be shared by all...
music wise ...bring your guitars .......... if anyone has acoustic amps feel free to bring em......
as for rules for the day .......... 1. as we said the no overdive/distortion rule applies to everyone.... no exceptions.......
2. if anyone is rude or abusive , racist they will be asked to leave......
3. a pool is available.. BUT WARNING ...ALL SWIMMING IS AT YOUR OWN RISK... the pool is
fenced but please be wary of young kids wandering in unattended if gate is open .....
4. music levels will be amplified but soft.....
as for times ............well people are welcome to arrive from 12 midday ......... i'm hoping to make it more an afternoon event that might go into the night... no problem if it does...... than have people arrive only at 5pm and the more people that are coming we should start early enough so everyone who wants to can get a chance to perform.........
as for performance. i was thinking of running it like i did the open mic sessions at jonathan's with everyone signing up then each getting say 3 to 5 songs depending on the amount of people performing ..... this will make it fair that everyone gets a chance to perform then hopefully after that we can open it to another round or performances. so maybe each performer might get to perform a few times.... and maybe with different combinations.... but i want to not get the situation of a few musicians staying on the stage all afternoon and others feeling left out ... so we'll adopt the open mic system......it's tried and proven....
sound........... i have a small sound system ....which i can set up,,, but if someone who is a PA fundi wants to run the sound and even supply it .... that would be cool.... just as i said levels need to be soft ..... so think PA as acoustic restaurant setting ...
so if anyones keen to do sound. just pm me and we can discuss it and setting it up......

hello guys . i see no recent additions to the list of people coming on sat .....
by tomorrow i will mail/pm you all my adress and we can sort details........
just a thought but maybe if anyone has any guitars they want to sell or other acoustic related gear ...feel free to bring it and we can set up a "for sale" corner .......... might be a good chance to let others play on the guitars you selling .....
lets get that list finished and then sat is a few days away ..... lets hope for weather like today but no prob we have an undercover outdoor section and a lounge we can revert to if the weathers nasty......

I kno wot you sed about those narsty electric type players, but kan I bring an effext pedal? I wont to try out my Line 6 Modulation Modeller thingy and kick in some univibe and tremelow.
Is that permitted Miss? I don't wont to be norty or get Miss into trouble, but I do say wont to play with the new toy and make everybody dizzy or wonder what is in the drinks.

heheheh BOB . ....... yeah any effects pedals other than distortion/overdirve are welcome......and thats purely for the noise factor and i gues a little bit of being a purist and wanting it acoustic.......... however as i posted if any electric players want to come and join us and play as long as they play their electric guitar clean........and not distorted ...it's cool......
so the only effect thats banned in pedal and on amps is the overdive /distortion......
so Bob you cool ... love to hear the pedal btw....

heheh tailon .. yeah please remember to pack in that mixer of yours....... we'll need that .....
and also we will need some mic stands and mic's for vocals and their cables........ i'm an instrumental player and don't do the vocal thing ....... so don't have the gear for vocals...
can we get some people to bring that...we prob won't need more than 2 or 3 ...

right what to bring
1. meat
2. one salad to be shared by all (single people coming instead of salad bring a bag or two of crisps )
3. drink ... whatever is your poison and that includes softdrinks for kids ect ....... i will however make teas and coffee available........
4. glasses ........i definitely do not have enough for more than 10 or so people...... unless you drinkng beer outa the bottle thats cool ..please bring enough for yourself
5.bring a bag of ice . i have a bath to place drinks in and will supply some ice but extra ice will always be needed........
6 any spices for your meat...... i warn you i'm not a braai type person so i do not have the relevant spices...
7. CAMPING CHAIRS.... i have seating for about 20 but not sure on numbers yet if you have some of those fold up type chairs toss em in your boot no need to bring em in till needed.
i will supply the brickets and fire lighters but WE WILL NEED PEOPLE TO BRAAI

THE PERFORMNACE SIDE OF THINGS WILL RUN AS AN OPEN MIC WITH US ROTATING AFTER ONLY A FEW SONGS SO THE VARIETY WILL BE THERE .......... AND EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO PLAY FROM 1ST TIMERS IN PUBLIC TO THE PRO'S ...AND SAME RULES APPLY TO ALL REGARDING TIMES OF SLOTS .......
my thinking is to get the performance section to be quite short per performer say 3 songs...... then get through everyone then we can start at top again so everyone will hopefully play a few times in the course of the afternoon .......and by then we will have seen who does what and maybe a few people might wanna collaborate for the next 3 songs ect........ just wanna avoid it being the same people on stage all afternoon ......
so yeah i expect everyone will be on their best behaviour......... anyone being abusive in anyway or racist or even homophobic ( there will be some same sex couples there) will be asked to leave immeadiately no arguments or discussion
Overall Volume will be soft and pleasant ...... and left to my discresion ....... sorry but i have neighbours to consider....
there is an undercover outdoor section and the lounge will be available if it is lousy weather ........ so the show goes on
LASTLY I HAVE ASKED MY PERCUSSIONIST( GLENNE.....AND HE'S GREAT ) TO COME SO ANYONE WANTING HIM TO PERFORM WITH THEM JUST ASK HIM.... HE'S OF THE LEVEL THAT HE AND I PLAY PRO GIGS WITHOUT REHEARSAL ... HE KNOWS HOW TO FOLLOW AN ARTIST AND PICK UP YOUR GROOVE..... so hopefully add some spice to the afternoon too

I was thinking of bringing my laptop and just dumping it on the mixer and recording the whole thing . I can record about 16 hours on it without doing anything what you think

fabulous..... this is kinda an afternoon, where if you wanna record...or even shoot video feel free.... anything goes...... however some people may not be going through the desk like the percussionist ect or people with their own acoustic amps..... so if you have a great condenser mic too bring it and try pick up extra sounds ect with that ...... but yeah worth a try ..
