Hi fellow GAS'ers im looking for some music equipemnt websites that can ship to SA aswell.

I know when i got my maxon i struggled to find a website that would ship it here...eventually i did get it right.

perhaps there are some sites that you guys use frequently? i am actaully after the ZVEX FUZZ FACTORY stomp box.
and browsing to find other pedals to give me some hendrix tones (im thinking EVH 90 phaser? or dunlop univibe?)

To my pleasant surprise I found out that one can order Guitar Rig directly from Native Instruments, and they ship for free to ZA.

Including your import duty, if you buy GT4 with Kontrol it will work out about R2000 less than if you bought is in South Africa... or at least about R2000 cheaper that the 2 quotes I got!

HMM yeh i have heard HORROR stories about EBAY but that is my last option, at least they have all the cool stuff on there ? could easily get into debt from that link ?

www.Thomann.de ships to SA, although prices are in Pounds and Euro, so they are not always the cheapest option, but they have quite a good selection of everything ranging from guitars, drums, mics, amps, etc.

From what I understand you pay R30 for the courier, and it comes straight to your door! Maybe you should inquire about the duties, as i ordered some etymotic earplugs, and some dvds.
I have a POD XT Live from the USA and managed to find a converter for 50 bucks from a local electronics store. It just gets really hot.

www.proguitarshop.com - $30 for shipping to SA vis USPS Priority Mail International. You'll wait about two weeks after you order, sometimes more sometimes less. They have some killer gear video demos on their site.

www.tonefactor.com - $20 for shipping to SA via same method, but import duties tend to be slightly more than Proguitarshop.

The shipping prices above are for any pedal bought from these two stores. You can also use USPS Express Mail International (which is quicker and usually $10 more) or USPS First Class Mail International (much slower and not insurable). I've bought from both numerous times. In nearly every case you will have to fetch the item from your local post office, because you'll have to pay VAT and a small import duty. On a pedal, it generally totals R70 - R150. If your order is delivered through DHL/ Fedex/ UPS they will deliver to your door, and you'll either have to pay them in advance of delivery for import duties or COD. The import duties on couriers tend to be higher than US Post or Royal Mail.

Ebay is a really great place to shop! I've bought over 20 items (mostly pedals) off Ebay with only one ever going missing (that was from Canada) and it was replaced via insurance (always insure your parcel!!!) pretty quickly. Sometimes you'll have a seller who's a bit slow in sending the item, but mostly as long as you make sure the store or individual you're buying from has good user feedback, you'll be OK. If you see warning signs in the seller's feedback, stay away.

Pedals that don't use internal power supplies (basically everything except some Carl Martin pedals) don't need a variac or voltage converter. Just use an SA 220-240 9V power supply (Boss, Zoom, Korg, Visual Sound) with your pedal and it'll be fine.

shadow1, although you can't get ZVEX in SA, you can get Dunlop/ MXR from local stores.

awsome Mr M!!!1 thank you so MUCH for all that info and links, really clears up alot especially concerning the powering of the pedals. I would only ever bring in pedals. AMPS and guitars im sorted ?

i will check out the dunlop / MXR but im pretty biased towards the ZVEX because MATT from MUSE is my hero so i kinda want it for that and the cool oscillation you can get from it ?

Yeah, I'm also a big Muse fan. I bought a Fuzz Factory earlier this year for that reason. I ended up selling it (hey I have 3 other fuzz pedals) because of how hard it is to get the same sound out of twice (and I needed some money fast) - it's crazy and kinda hard to control, but that is rather the point isn't it? But it sounds great and is an awesome pedal, so go for it. I still have some self oscillation from my fuzzes, but without quite as much craziness as the FF. I kind of miss it actually. :'(

lol, I bet the horror stories are from guys that have never bought anything on eBay.

I've been an eBay member for 9 years, bought tons of gear, never had one problem.

I'm trying to get the Fulltone distribution for SAfrica,,,but Mike Fuller is a very difficult man to deal with...my chances don't look good right now.

I bought my Fulltones online, off eBay and one of the big forums in the States....excellent pedals.

yup, that's the tone I'm talking about. ?
Actually Trower's used the Fulltone OCD and the Deja2 for many years, now Fulltone have built him the Trower pedal...but I think he still uses the OCD.
For me the OCD is the best overdrive pedal I've heard...I love it.
