heheh come to Durban they said........ do a show but come take a well deserved break on our sunny beach's ......... so i did .......
with visions of spending a day on the beach .i booked into a guest house literally right on the beach .... i arrived a whole day early hoping to unwind and then network that evening at the Dbn venues....... expecting sun and sand ...
hehhehehe but what i got was freezing cold and pouring rain....all day tuesday heheheh what a let down..... may as well of booked into the holiday inn ....... anyway it was so miserable that that evening i didn't even get out.........
although i did get to visit with pete from site ... and spent an afternoon with him playing guitars and discussing 'world peace" (btw he's a fabulous fingerstyle player..... wish he lived closer to allow more such afternoons..)
so yeah the Durban midweek break was washed out ..........except on wed morning i did manage an hour on the beach with my guitar heheheh jack johnson style seranading the surfers on the bluff........ at the unearthly hour of 7 am...... but by 8 the wind was raging so that was it and we left the beach back to the guest house for breakfast ..............
the gig was cool at the university .... nice theatre ...... and huge stage ..... and the sound guy was fabulous.... and from my perspective it was a nice natural sound.... and no feed back or booming at all... fabulous to have a good sound guy... cos i have 2 condensers and 2 dynamic mic's running so always risk of sound issues... but not that show ...... and my original world music compositions seemed appreciated ... mmm it's always a gamble performing to music students....... especially something as off centre as my mix of guitar and percussion ..... but i got em participating ... so all good and the concert organiser was happy .
the funny thing is my guitar in the more classical piece i do kept slipping ..so either the chair.... i used one of theirs was at a slightly different height or and i guess this could be it the morning on the beach got some sea air/salt/moisure on the guitar and made the body more slippery than normal......but i ended up clamping it with my elbow and it was fine .... yet the strings felt normal... so no idea what caused that....
but yeah woulda been awesome if theweather played along

It was an absolute pleasure to have Keira visit us in Durban. I thoroughly enjoyed jamming with Keira - a rare priviledge to interact one-on-one musically with such a talent.
Keira's recital at the university was special. She wowed the appreciative audience with her world music and I saw many a jaw drop as she went through her multi-sonic guitar and percussion routine.
Yeah, a pity about the weather - next time I'll arrange sunny skies.
