Hey Rudolph, the software will actually help you understand music theory a bit better. I'd say get some decent software sooner rather than later. Also, it enables one to create stuff way beyond one's actual understanding of theory, provided you have a good ear and sense of melody and harmony (which you clearly have!)

Speaking of which, I actually feel that I should not enter the beginner category anymore (though I ended up there inadvertantly this time, having forgotten to indicate my category to Rene). I actually intended to go for an Intermediary category. It's not that I consider my guitar playing to be anything more than beginner or at the most, intermediate, but because of the fact that I'm privileged enough to have some luxuries (a dedicated room and PC, good quality software, a couple of guitars) that most beginners don't have. I think that gives me an unfair advantage over the beginner guys who may even be better players than I am, but who don't have all the resources.

So my long term ambition from now on will be to one day beat the Alan's, Rene's, Evolucian's, Andrews, Pete's, Manny's of the world....to name but a few!

Well to be honest I'm reluctant to purchase anything anymore for the music stuff untill I get the guitar under reasonable control, already own 4 guitars myself and I can't even manage barre chords properly yet. Been struggeling with that for months now. Gotten to the point of saying "Let's just learn how to play first." Hahahaha. In the beginning it was all about jamming along to MP3's in the house of rock tunes and songs we like, now I'm sucking tunes out my thumb? Kinda scared about where this is all going. ?

Kind of "Keep off the GAS"? ? Or at least until you can play well? Geez, if I applied that to myself, I'd still have just a single nylon guitar.

LOL..well my standards aren't very high right now? ? Hehe. Having fun? Without a doubt! My only problem is I think I get too much fun out of the simplist of things, so I'm not spending near enough time on trying to get the impossible stuff working.

I must admit, it would have been better for me if I had been a seasoned and good player with years of experience before I got myself involved in the recording side of things. Currently, the latter happens at the expense of my guitar playing...:-[

Time generally is a problem for me, and at the moment I tend to spend far too much time with the software and recording than with actual playing and practising.

I'll have to retire to have time for both, but I also need to keep on working in order to finance it all....a catch-22 ?

BTW: Manfred and I are combining ideas for the next challenge. Just awaiting his response then I'll PM Rene. I think you're gonna like it!
