tight_jeans Hi guys, I need some help. I have to transport an amp from Durban to Margate and I wanted to know what/ who you guys use to transport your gear? I spoke to postnet but they're quite expensive and the post office is much cheaper but I'm worried about the safety. It's a Marshall amp, 22kg's. Thanks!
Styles It depends, what is your definition of expensive? What kind of amp is it? Solidstate or Valve? Combo or head? Sometimes a courier service is cheaper.
AlanRatcliffe +1. The smaller couriers like RAM or Crosscape are often better for such things. Otherwise just make sure it is packed properly - double-boxed, packing material so it can't move around. If you use packing material, tape a piece of cardboard over an open backed cab to keep any packing from getting in. Remove any valves and pack nicely in another small box and put that inside the big box. BTW - Postnet use the PO's Speed Services Couriers for the actual couriering anyway... I refuse to pay double the price for the same service and then still have to drive for two hours to the closest Postnet to pick it up.
tight_jeans It's a regular marshall Mg series amp. (100DFX) So it's not small. Well postnet wants R700 to transport it. I was thinking of sending via normal parcel mail for just over R100 but dont know if it will get damaged. I heard postnet use th PO so they're pretty much out.
