Hi there...
I got a offer from a guy 2 buy his 80's gibson lp for 4k...im gona go and take a look at it tomorow...
What do i have to look at to determine if its a fake or not? i have only playd 3 gibson lp's in my short life, and they were 90's and 00's models...so ja, help, plez? ? thanx
That price sounds too good. It is possible that the guy doesn't know the value of what he's got, but check it out carefully.
Is it a complete guitar? (maybe there was small print to the effect of "no pickups")
What condition is it in?
Is actually a Gibson? I recall many years ago going to see a drum kit with a guy I was playing with at the time. The drums were a no-name brand with something about "Ludwig replica" stuck inside the bass drum. The seller was either very thick or thought we were - and tried to convince us that the set was one of Ludwig's "Rep-plicka" (that's how he pronounced it, with emphasis on the 2nd accent) line.
And I concur with Alan, take the serial number and, if possible, some photos and get it checked out. If the guy protests then he probably knows there's something unkosher about the axe.
