Any local pickup winders?

I got an interesting idea about a humbucker, but was wondering if we had any local person that could wind pickups as to test it..

Not that I know of. I could hook you up with Pete Biltoft of Vintage Vibe in the US if you want. He's amenable to experimenting and building to a customer's spec (he made my bass humbuckers and did a good job).

There is a member on the forum called "G1", he winds his own pickups for his custom bass guitars he is building.
Maby ask him if he can do it.

Vick it just takes some practice and lots of time(that could have been spent playing guitar ?).

here is a link of a guy building a humbucker and giving some info on how he did it, he worked on a real tight budget with homemade tools, so this one might be a bit crappy, but its worth reading just to get an idea:

Search google there is lots of info, also try youtube perhaps?

If your only planning on making about 4 pickups, rather buy pickups then, if you plan on making lots of them and start selling, id say go for it.

Jason Lollar is rereleasing his legendary book Basic Pickup Winding and complete Guide to Building Your Own Pickup Winder as a PDF later this year - he sent me a copy recently. He didn't want to release it and originally took it off the market because he spent too much time on the phone with budding winders. But when he saw fake copies being sold for up to $500 on the secondhand market, he decided to rerelease it to screw the pirates. You have to love that.

The Mario Milan book Pickups, Windings and Magnets has some useful info, but is very badly organised and the bad English translation makes it even worse. There is also a book (which I don't have yet) called Animal Magnetism for Musicians by Erno Zwaan, which has some useful in-depth magnetic and electrical theory (primarily for the Bass guitar) - the excerpts I have read also seem badly written though.
