African marimba jam recording

New song i uploaded, something completly different than i useally do.

You'll notice a marimba in the background, one of our forum members (Wizard) had custom built me one out of a very fine selected piece of madagascan rosewood.
It is tuned to the Dmin pentatonic scale, which means you basically play anything and it will sound like you can play something.

So i just chose chords that woud fit around the Dmin pentatonic, which would be Dmin, F , C , Am ,and had a jam.

oh, this was for a student film, i had lots of trying to figure out how to do african music, and was real simple, it all just came down to rhytmn and repeating phrases.

the drums might be a bit boring and constant through out the song.

Its fun i can have a jam with my 3 year old nephew, without haveing to worry about anything sounding out of key.

to even make it more simple, i didn't practice the marimba with the backtrack before recording, i just hit the record button used the first take.

Very nice Manfred. Playing marimbas is so fun. I have a small akkadinda, it's like a marimba, but you hit the side of the note with the side of the beater and two or more people play an interlocking rhythm. It's also in a pentatonic scale so fairly easy to play. I just might bring it with to the next get together.
