This is an amazing opportunity for you to be part of history as we ‘Celebrate Durban’ and support a worthy cause in our attempt to set a new ‘Guinness World Record TM’ for the ‘Largest Guitar Ensemble’ (Current record stands at 1802 Guitarists playing ‘Smoke on the Water’ simultaneously).

Bring your own guitar!! (Acoustic or Electric)

Registration, Log In and Guitar Tuning begins at 12.00pm and the ‘Largest Guitar Ensemble’ attempt will start at 4.00pm.

* Entertainment will be provided throughout the afternoon by prominent Durban musicians.

* Free Commemorative Guitar Pick and ‘Smoke on the Water’ sheet music

* Free Giveaways throughout the afternoon!!

* One lucky attendee will win an Acoustic Guitar in a ‘lucky draw’ proudly sponsored by Glenwood Village Music

Registration Fee: R 20.00 (Paid by EFT or Cash) – EFT payments use your name as the reference

There would seem to be three things that you need.
1) Water (Cape Town has that)
2) Lots of guitarists

Well we didn't break the record. Advertising wasn't that great although I have known about it for longer than most.

I took some photo's will load them soon. Who else was there?

there were over 1600 registered but around 1000 playing.

don't know the song it was quite fun. GFSA should try this.

I was there! I spotted a bullseye guitar which I assumed was steff zero, but I didn't see many others...it was awesome!

yeah i was thinking the same thing, maby we should start a new thread and see if we can organise something like this for next year, maby in the waterfront, we could get some big companies in to sponsor advertising, would anyone be interested then i'll start a new thread, and SA claim a world record ?
