Hey guys
I'm following a Japanese Fender Strat on EBay: This is the description:
Boxer series ST-556 made in Japan Fender Stratocaster. E serial number, made from 1984 to 1987. Equipped with a Seymour Duncan pick-up on the bridge, Kahler Fulcrum Tremolo, TBX control (1 volume and 1 tone knob), 5 way pick up switch, medium scale neck and System I string locks.
This guitar is ALL STOCK from the factory, it has not been modified since it was one of the models in the Boxer series line, exclusive for the Japanese market
It has a few dings, nothing serious or too bad according to the pics. Does anyone know much about these particular Fenders? Any opinions as to what it's worth?
Cheers
Reinhard
I bought a japanese strat locally, not sure what year it was made for around 3K. I have seen them advertised in the cape ads for 3-3.5k. With different electronics they can sound great. Mine just needs a fret levelling, but I am thinking refret with jumbo fretwire. You might save money buying one locally. I just feel buying a guitar on ebay the shipping is so expensive it is almost just worth it on really expensive guitars.

Hi Reinhard
You're right, the shipping costs of guitars to SA is prohibitive. Often not worth it except for really good deals and special guitars. Add to that the uncertainty about buying a guitar blindly, risk of damage or theft, etc. I was lucky with a Godin I bought from a guy in Tasmania though, smooth deal and the guitar arrived in mint condition. But my enthusiasm for EBay guitar deals is dwindling. I keep watching though... you never know.

Yes Riaan I know what you mean, I am on there all the time. Very tempting at times ;D
