I got the guitar, R800 later and I couldn't be happier. Its exactly what I could've hoped for tone wise.
I think the tone pot might be broken though as it seems to do absolutely zilch unless I'm being retarded.

Modding right now isn't necessary. I'm happy ? Although I do recall a stealth tele in black and chrome that someone had customized and I absolutely loved the look. Where can one get a black pickguard, black control panel etc? Is it merely a unscrew, swop out, reattach jobbie?

Congrats on the new guitar and I'm glad you're (mostly happy with it as is.

Tele wiring is simple and a non-working tone control is likely to be a very simple repair. Chances are it's a wire come loose or at the most a faulty pot or capacitor.

Tele pickguards are easy to find and are pretty standardised (vintage five screw or modern eight), some cheaper ones have the neck pickup suspended from the pickguard, but most are direct to wood, so it's mostly a drop in replacement. Black control plates are harder to find locally but are readily found at all the online stores and are also an easy swap.

Hey Tauriq, this what you mean?

Got the pickguard, knobs and control plate from here - http://store.guitarfetish.com/index.html - pretty reasonable and reliable. And yeah, all you need is a screwdriver and to hope that the holes line up - though not too much of a biggie if they dont.

thought i'd wade into this thread ? , giggsy i'd be keen to know how you go about doing your finish as i would really like to do my own (natural) finish on an axe.

I'd love to take credit for it but I bought it like that - all I did was change the pickguard, control plate and knobs.

No problem man - well thats an ongoing project, completed sanding with 100 grit, hopefully do 150 tonight, but its looking good (in my opinion). Will put up some new photos soon. As for the natural finish, still got a lot more questions to ask the experts!
