Hi friends

I have an exciting job to do: upgrade the mains transformer on a tweed Blues Junior and fit a whole bunch of mods. The transformer has been done. Now for the mods ?

Mars 220V ttransformer. I had to beef it up a bit to fit all the windings on.

Can you get a pic of both transformers in so we can see the scale difference?

Question: is this your job or hobby, just for future reference, i have a mate with a problem with a Pevey amp so maybe he can contact you.
i take it the reason for the bigger transformer is so you don't get power clipping at the top end of the volume.

Karel can't plug his services outright - but a look at his signature will tell you all you need to know, and if you ask around the forum you'll find lots of happy customers - including myself.

One reason for the bigger transformer is the mains voltage here is 220V and the original tranny was a US one that only had to handle 110V.

The original USA transformer is the black one on the right. I tried to take it apart with thinners, but the baby is baked solid :-[

A presence control

The inside view. The Presence pot also has a pull-knob function to activate the Clean Boost mod. Hiding in the shade is Orange Drop Tone Stack upgrade. Included in the mod is the Twin Tone Stack mod which makes the Mids Control go to 0 for scooped mids sound.

One of the nicest mods in the menu: An adjustable bias. The multi turn pot makes it easy to dial in the right idle current for the power tubes (EL84)

Outputs for Africa: (from left to right) Line Out, Aux Speaker Out, Original Footswitch socket (now a stereo footswitch for Clean Boost/Reverb), Original Speaker Out and 4/8ohm Speaker impedance selector

SICK!!!! That looks awesome.. Any possibilities of sound clips? it would've been cool if you did some before and after clips! ?

Just for the record, I am the lucky guy that owns this amp, and it is probably the best money I have ever spent on gear. This little amp rocks and the tone is almost better than my Bassman! See message from BillM himself after I sent him the URL for this site:
