ADA MP1 Footcontroller

Hi there guys,I recently bought a ADA MP1 tube preamp secondhand without the floor controller.Is there any other floor controller I can use to switch between channels? Any help will be appreciated.

From what I remember of mine the foot controller was a seven pin - with the extra pins for phantom power from the ADA. If I'm not mistaken, the manual said you could use a normal 5-pin MIDI controller with it though. Maybe try find the manual on the ADA web site and double-check that.

If it can, then you can use any MIDI controller with it: Roland, Behringer, etc...

Thanx Allan, I double checked and the manual said that a 5 pin cable can be used. Wich one is the best to get?

The Behringers are fine once you get them programmed properly. I use one with Guitar Rig...

If I get the Behringer pedal and I've programmed it to the different chanels etc, would the pedals be any use to me? Could I maybe program the pedal to do volume swells using the master volume? As you know the ADA is a very basic pre amp.

I honestly don't know. You'd have to get the MIDI implementation chart and see what commands it responds to. The ADA foot controller only has patch changes, so I don't know if you can do any more than that.

Who did you get the ADA from dude? I sold mine to someone in JHB awhile back.. ? It came with the controller tho..

You can use any midi controller with it. Cheaper ones aren't always available here. You dont need something as advanced as the FCB1010 cos all you need to do is change patches no need for the those 2 pedals, they wont change any paramaters. Might be useful if you end up pairing it with a nice FX unit tho.

Something like this is cheap and easy. Not as cheap as the Behringer tho.

Thanx for the advice. I went and bought myself the Behringer today and now Im in the market for a muti fx unit. Should I connect it in the fx loop ? Im new to midi switching.

You must try and get a dedicated rack power amp for it.

Yes you can plug into a amp head, but your signal is going through the tone stack colouring it more. This may or may not be what you want.

The plexi is really easy to do this on. Much like you, I used my first preamp into a superbass mkII head which I had modded (by a tech) so that one of the jacks bypassed the tone stack, effectively using only the poweramp portion of the head. It basically ends up sounding like more bass and top end has been allowed through.

Ill try that. I've got two 50w valve amps that I've never completed. 2x El34.(both) The power amps are completed and working. Maybe I'll combine them into a stereo setup. But then again mono is OK with me . I'll keep you updated. Might get both working and swop one for rackmount fx.
