Reinhard · 2008-05-15T22:14:01+00:00

Hi guys Great site you have here. I only found it tonight and decided to join. My Gibson ES-335 was stolen by a conman in Joburg. Ill post the serial number soon, here is a pic in the meantime. Any help in finding this guitar would be greatly appreciated. I hope its appropriate to post this here. I'll post pics of my other guitars and amps in future Thanks everyone Reinhard

I rekon it's long gone out of the country :'(
It looks just like mine.. I would die a million deaths rather.

My saxophone was stolen the same way, cheque bounced... was about 5 years ago. You live and you learn hey...
That was a R25k saxophone..

I feel your pain, that's a huge loss ☹

Reinhard

Thanks for the empathy guys ? I hope it surfaces someday.

That thought crossed my mind as well, since seeing this more than a year ago..........however Reinhard, I feel the same as you......

Don't ever give up searching and asking, I would have done the same, you never know........

If it does can I have your red one? No one needs to 335s? ?

The stolen section used to be on another website if I am not mistaken?

Reinhard

It is a '97 ES-335 in blonde flame maple.

Oh my....It was like I was looking at my own Blonde ES335

They are striking, not common and thus it possibly could
be recovered with luck.

Unlike stolen motorbikes which get broken down and sold
part by part, your guitar will be kept in one piece.

Reinhard

I actually saw a '97 pop up a while back and for a moment thought it was mine :'(

This reminds me...I once posted an ad selling my Marshall amp.
I was asking £150 but a buyer said he'd pay me £200 for it.
I was immediatly suspicious. The £200 cheque he sent
was not cleared by my bank as it had been listed as stolen.
I hadn't mailed the amp, fortunately.

What struck me was that my bank asked no questions
about the fraudulent cheques origin or how I came to have it.

Never Give up Reinhardt

I had a boat stolen form my home in 2008 - I found it 4 years later at a boatyard in Midrand.

unfortunately guitars rarely get exposed to the public and spend most of their lives in cupboards, but you never know.

The stolen guitar link doesn't appear to work (temporary?). I think that it would be a great idea to have one on the forum. I had mine stolen years back but, very luckily, managed to get them back. It's a dreadful thing and certainly warrants the removal of the hands, preferably whilst they're holding on to something else that's near and dear to the perp.

Its very much posible that the guitar is still around

I had that Jazz bass in my hands after it was stolen 4 years ago....
The more people see this thread and the serial number.....who knows

Reinhard

I'll post a pic again.

TokaiSA was kind enough to give me the email addresses of a bunch of music stores, so I will contact them as well. I always thought I would end up watching some local music show/channel and see it pop up on a stage somewhere.

Is there any kind of statute of limitations on this kind of thing?

If you have the energy, email every and any music shop,
band website and rehearsal/recording studio asking
them to look out for someone possibly trying
to sell a 335 beauty.
