Those frets are insane, they look like some drunk guy was in charge ?

But seriously... won't it feel really weird to play a guitar with frets like those?

yeah I assume you'd sorta have to get used to it a bit. Hopefully not RE-learn guitar ?

But I'm inhumanly picky when it comes to bad notes or something sounding funny.
I guess I need to draw the line somewhere because I don't see anyone in SA doing this anytime soon :/ Or I'd jump at it and give it a try.

Steve Vai's demo vids are impressive though.

I can't think that it would really take long to get used to them, what would be weird is once you're used to them, all your other guitars's necks will seem sooooo.....ancient!!
But hell, before watching SVs demo, I also thought for a second "is this serious??" Very, very interesting!!!!!!

When (not if) this catches on, someone's gonna make Billions of Dollars....... ? ?

We discussed this a while back. Quite honestly, a guitar with an Earvana nut or the Buzz Feiten tuning system is close enough. Within 1 cent is fine as most people can't hear a 3 cent difference between two notes.

Also, the True Temperament system is expensive to install and while you can bend, bends will not be smooth and even (look at that first fret - what happens when you bend the second string up?).

I have heard that Earvana nuts are not a very rigid material. Don't mean to derail the thread, but any views or opinions on that?

True - Although both Earvana and Dave Dunwoodie of Graph Tech have admitted the material is "similar", I found it cuts faster and I think it's a bit softer. I have Graph Tech Black Tusq classic blanks to make my own LSR style ones from. There is also a guy who makes something similar out of bone that the Tele guys like.

Yeah I thought about the bends too, because the "perfect pitch" is directly under the string when it's un fretted. So if you were to fret, then push up (or down) you'd be moving it away from it's 'sweet spot'?

Or would that be that be taken into account with the angle of the frets below the string in that particular bend?

Lol I don't even know if that came out correctly.

The frets are radiused like any others, so it doesn't present any problem levelling them. Crowning them again will be a bit tricky - you'd have to use a triangular file with rounded off corners (the old fashioned way of crowning a fret) instead of a fret crowning file. Even then it'll be a lot of careful work.

I didn't check, but if they use stainless steel frets, it'll be decades before it needs dressing.
