Hi - I bought a Behringer HM300 (Heavy Metal) distortion pedal, and through my amp it sounds great - I can take the distortion way down. But I tried recording with it last night and it is seriously distorted, even when the distortion knob is set to minimum. Am I just being stupid? Or is there a trick to this?

Your volume is clipping at a guess. Set your gain lower in whatever program you're using. Or get a nice soundcard ?

If your signal without the pedal isn't clipping then Check the level of the pedal as well if that's not pushing the input too hard.
