A bit of Bach

Yippie Yay Yay Yay, I've finaly figured out how to change my wav. into Mp3. My breaking in of the Sonar program has not been that smooth. I've atleast managed to record an audio file, I'll leave the mixing for another day. So here's a little something that I played. I'm going to systematically record all my classical songs so that I can forget them and move on.

It's supposedly in the key of D minor, but I'm sensing that it's not so straight forward and goes to A major at some points, but I'll unravel the mystery and put up my findings, so if anyone wants to 'jam' along they're more than welcome to.

I recorded it well up untill the third last note, so if anyone's wondering, it's meant to be a D, but I played a C#, but what can you do.

Thanks Donovan! I don't even practice when I am 'playing' these songs, so I guess it's more of a safety precaution. Some of my songs have gotten so hazy that if my RH or LH speed up past the other one I totaly lose myself. Which is quite annoying, but point taken. I won't give them up altogether.

Well done Viccy - you're definitely getting there as far as the recording goes. C# be damned - good playing otherwise.

Your levels are very low though - it's all very quiet. Make sure you are turning up the input gain on the mic so that the meters are up near the top - basically as high as you can get without distortion. It's safest to record leaving a bit of headroom to allow for performance variations, but even then you should look into normalising the track to get it up as high as you can go before mixing down.

That'll be cool (the jamming). Going to try work out the chord progression now. My previous attempts were duds. The levels are probably too low because I got a fright when I read 'NEVER let the green lines go into the red', because previously they were there all the time. Thanks for the encouraging words, it'll be a test to see how well I can balance the Input.

The C# is okay, but the D, well, that's when the little robot thinks there might be more to life than sorting out data (have I over thought this?).
