Yeah I know, he uses a Roger Linn Adrenalinn 2 (more likely than not upgraded to a 3)

I dont exactly want to go pay $400 for the Adrenalinn just to play one song.

Either way it is tweaked and a very unique sound...

I will try get a demo version of GR so long and then see if I can find the sound... Or i must just buy GR... ?

If he mentions somewhere how to get it??? let me know. then i'll pull the DVD out and have a look too

What are you using to try and get the tone? You might get a decent approximation with a manual wah and lots of practice or you should be able to get it with Guitar Rig and some time to fiddle.

Is the tone not rolled back too?

Setting the peak lower and narrowing the range does a similar thing to rolling off the tone (guitar tone is only a crude filter anyway). Lower peak is similar to using a wah with the rocker further back so the tone is darker and a narrow range is like only moving your foot in small amounts.

BTW - Bigger Than My Body uses the step sequencer controlled filter I mentioned earlier.

Neps might chip in - he's a Mayer fan and from what I've heard of his music obviously knows his way round filters.

Well I have been messing around with my Wah Probe and the tone control. The wah is the only filter effect I have. I really want to get my hands on GR tho, for these kind of things, it's not something I would use all the time, but I do want to play around and try work out what effects are being used. and be it that it is one of my favorite songs... AND I never play it ?

I don't want to go out and buy a $140 electro harmonix envelope filter to jam one song... maybe something like GR would be good to have aside for those not so often used effects... Well for me anyway!

I just want to know what I would need first to make it all work... I dont like sukkling with stuff >☹

There is an envelope filter effect (Autofilter) which should do the job. Otherwise you can combine the Pro-filter with an Envelope or input level modifier for more control.

How are you with multieffect programming and/or sound design and synthesis? Guitar Rig is way powerful - I don't think there is anything it can't do if you know your way around - but the level of complexity to do this kind of stuff can be pretty high too.

Well I have only started messing around with effects and the like since January.... So not very long. I had the GNX3 and I really didn't like the interface and it was just not my kinda thing...

Now that I have gotten into the whole electric thing, I have only been playing nice clean stuff with some grit being added in now and then and the odd WAH for Voodoo Chile ?

But as i hear and see more I want to try more effects but dont want to add more pedals to the floor. I like it simple...

My current set up is Compressor -> custom made TS-808 mod -> Wah Probe -> TS808HW...

I get killer tone from that alone and leave the custom mod TS808 on all the time, with the drive all the way on ... zero... just going through the circuit adds the nicest sparkle. then the Ibanez TS808HW is for a dirty cream I like to call it... and my point is... Thats as far as my effects go...

No crazy filters, chorus, wahs, reverbs, delays etc. Have not got there yet, but I am interested to mess around...

Dealy I am looking at getting a Trex Replica sometime.

I think GR is the way to go forward and learn

If you're going to play this live.. then I've got no idea what pedals to get.. A wah, a filter, a pahse and trem might do live. I played around with the idea in my DAW.. Plugins used
*SansAmp (for Overdrive)
*Nomad Phaser (free from NOMADS website)
*Nomad Tremelo (free from their website)
*a normal EQ

I just recorded a track, duplicated it. Then on one of the tracks added the EQ. Set the phase reverse button, so that both tracks are OUT of phase. Now if you press play NOTHING is supposed to come out from your speakers. Then go into the EQ, select a midrange Freq. (I used a 7-band EQ) Set the 'Q' (that button that selects the NOTCH size) and make it about 5.00 (quite a narrow notch). Go to about 300Hz. Add a bit of gain, some sound is supposed to come out (I just went and added 6dB's for the fun of it.)

If you now move the Frequency selector between 300 and 700Hz on the music, you'll hear it 'wah-ing'. Send those 2 tracks out to an Aux/Bus and on that track add a very slow Trem and a phaser. And then your Guitar amp simulator.

It worked quite well within 5 minutes of trying it out.

Ha ha, I got it...
Using the GT8 and the Slow gear effect, quite a bit of EQ as well but the slow gear is set with Sensitivity at 47, and rise time 79.

For the record the Preamp was the Tweed, gain 22, bass 83, mid 60, treble 43, presence 7, level 48
and added some reverb and very slight chorus in.
