I agree with the maple neck, it would need a skunkstripe but I would prefer a modern truss rod over the Fender + type adjustment, although still on the body side.
It will be modern, but on the headstock side. USACG use a smaller than usual truss nut so not much wood has to be routed out at the headstock. Even with all maple I generally prefer a two piece neck - so never have a skunk stripe.
I agree with the ash body but if you want contour imho go for a Strat.
Racman wants traditional looks to the casual inspection, but modern comfort, playability and an ultra-flexible sound.
Why not bring in a few swamp ash blanks yourself?
I think I would prefer a clear finish over traditional blonde but am wondering if Fender ever did clear finishes back in the day.
They did AFAIK. I know the "Holy Grail" of Teles, the '52s were often clear.
The clear lacquer would go well with a black scratch plate and chrome neck pickup cover.
It does.

Well if you can't I can see no reason not to have such a thing laser cut, polished and chromed. Might even work out cheaper... In case you need help with the CAD just send me a PM and I'll fix it 8)
Thanks! Chris usually sorts me out though. If I were to have one made I'd probably have one cut from stainless and not have to worry about having it chromed. Neck plate and all screws, etc will be stainless anyway.
If you want to discuss the best traditional-style Tele hardware, start up a new thread in repairs and mods and I'll jump in...
