good Les Paul is a very good guitar - no argument there. Look at the R8s and R9s. Unfortunately they are not all good though. To think that is a little blinkered.
For some people they are the best - obviously they are for you. I have no problem with that, but you also have to realise they don't suit everyone.
Don't diss it because you can't afford it.
Look through the signatures of the posters, you'll find lots of the guys
are LP players. That in itself says a lot. Many of those that don't have them are playing other expensive brands instead, so price isn't the issue as much as quality control and value for money.
I've never owned a LP, but I know them well - I've played
thousands and fixed hundreds more. Still, who knows? It's unlikely, but there may be one out there that I click with some day - I'm open to that if it happens...
