Hey guys, the 10s do bend quite nicely, at least for me.......but I think going to 11s will be like being used to driving a car with power steering the going to one without!!! Hahahaha..
Like they say: "If it ain't broke, blah blah blah...." ?

On the other hand, once you've sussed it Reinhard, let us know, you can always whip them off and go back to 10s........ ?

@ Alan....wow....12s?? Geez, that's heavy.....are you talking about using them on a Les Paul ??

For one, the Studio has no binding around the body and neck... the pups may also be different ? The studio is basically a cheaper version of the Standard.

Thanks Vic and Aubs, yes I wondered about the pickups but never noticed the binding. I wondered why the Studio is cheaper. I wonder what the difference is soundwise, if the pickups are different. Still, a Studio should also have that signature Les Paul "growl" or what? I'm following a Studio on EBay, where it's for sale for about $1400 USD. Not that I'm really in the market for one now, but it doesn't hurt to look does it?

Hello Riaan, the pic I posted above is from Sweetwater.......there they are going for $1320 brand new, just as a matter of interest! Of course you're gonna have to still pay for shipping...... ?

Hi Riaan, another thing about the Studio is the fact that it does not have the fancy figured maple cap as the Standard ..some people pay a lot for a so-called flame-top LP... 8)
However they have alnico pups which are great sounding.

Wow. This thread is still going.

The Studio is not much of a Les Paul, imo. There are a million copies out there that are more Les Paul like than a Les Paul Studio. The Studio bears Gibson's name, but that's about it. It has Gibson pickups on it, but it'd be cheaper to buy another Les Paul and put Gibson pickups in it. It doesn't look or feel much like a Les Paul (I've played one) although it does sound like one.

I would buy an LP special (like Bob Marley's or the guy from Green Day) long before a Studio. That was their original budget Les Paul. Now, ironically, it's so famous that you pay a lot for the special too. But really. A studio doesn't cut it for me. You could get one of many brands of copies built to the same or better spec as a Les Paul standard for less and put Gibson pickups in it. Then it would look and feel, as well as sound like a Les Paul. These are all just my opinions. I just feel like the Studio doesn't have any Gibson mojo.

LP 's are simply the best.. Don't diss it because you can't afford it. BTW any guitar will sound bad if you plug it in a bad amp..
