Joburg GFSA get-together

My irrepressible organisational habit and sucker-for-punishment mentality have brought us to this... Following on from our hopeless failure to match the Cape Town guys for doing instead of talking, I figured I couldn't think of any clubs or club-owners who'd be amenable to letting GFSA commandeer a whole room for the night, so I've had a chat with a friend of mine who runs a rehearsal room/studio in Florida Glen (just off the N1, near the 14th Ave on/offramp) and he says he's willing to let us in on whatever night everyone thinks is best, once a month or so. He'd supply beer and the place (beer for purchase, mind), and there's a drum kit and bass amp there, so we could invite whoever we'd need to sit in. It's not a huge place, but it'd be a venue with all the gear needed, and there probably wouldn't be hordes of us anyway. So, what I'd want to know is how many people think they'd be keen, when would be the best night, etc.

So, what a nice bunch of guys (and girl, for at least five minutes) we had round for this thing. Thanks to everyone for coming - it was good to meet Bob, Tom & Mariann, Lethe, Aja and Gearhead for the first time. Special thanks to Bob for bringing through an arsenal of guitars for everyone to fondle, beers and an overgenerous door contribution, which will no doubt find its way back to him in some sort of karma system (or maybe just hard cash). Also to Lethe, who, when his mind is no longer weighed down by the rising price of King Pies and upcoming varsity tests, will slay his listeners with some of those exotic scales. And also to Tom, who, although abandoned by his wife and without much choice (or a lift), put on a happy face when the noise started.

We got some good ideas from this get-together and it'll be good to see them put into action in the future.

Ay ☹ I really awnted to come, only left work at 7:30 yesterday. Had to get massive orders out. Sounds like it was lekker. Can we organise another one next month or after that maybe?

I even brought all my fancy toys for okes to try out. they still in my bag...
