Riaan I saw something interesting on EBay this morning: an aluminium (or aluminum as the say in the US) Strat body. I didn't know about these. It looks as if it's a hollow body, but in all other respects it looks like a standard Strat body. This one has a custom paint job by some famous spraypainter. Anyone of you guys ever heard of these? I wonder what those Strats sounds like.
AlanRatcliffe The Harley Davidson Strats were aluminium: They also did a chrome Strat with the same bodies: Buggers for fingerprints though. Probably sound like the electric guitar version of a dobro.

Sean aaah, a resonator guitar, must say, I don't really know what they sound like, guess I've heard it before, just was not aware of what I was hearing I suppose ?
dee There is a guy called James Trussart that makes a lot of incredible custom steel guitars. Check it out: http://www.jamestrussart.com/Newsite/Models.htm Maybe one of his guitars you saw?
Riaan Now that you mention Harley Davidson, the ad actually did say it's the body from a Harley Davidson guitar. Nice metallic purple, done by a guy who also painted Satriani's guitars. Great to look at, but I can't imagine on of those as a workhorse guitar. And probably limited soundwise as well.
AlanRatcliffe Interesting piece. How much is it selling for (or what's the bidding like)? I also doubt it's suitable for a working guitar - aside from fingerprints, any scratches would be very obvious.

needleshy i saw one of these at 10 years ago at a guitar shop in florida behind a glass case..... i think it was selling for $9,000 back then but it had floral engravings all over almost like that zippo u get with the engravings. it looked pretty awsome but its just a show piece like the dude said at the shop.... was probably one of the nicest looking guitars i have ever seen in real life.
