GT8 Patches
DonovanB
For those of you who have the GT6/8/10/PRO units.
What are your favourite patches? I've had mine for 2 years now and still haven't touched most of them.
The ones I do use are;
Mild Crunch
Clean Stack
Edge Delay (especially for anything U2)
Metal Stack
Fat Stereo Lead is cool
and the T-AMp lead.
There are more I cant remember. What are your favourites? I wanna try some new ones. Also, has anyone managed to install Paul Hansons Patches yet?

On my GT8:
5150 Lead
Stereo Chorus
Edge Delay
Tread Amp for Metallica 8)
The Fat Stereo lead is awesome

i gigged a gt6 for about 3years made all custom patches...i didnt find the presets very defined,as always you always have your personal style so i tweaked alot of the settings. Never ended up using the pedal to its full potential,i programmed the effects when i got it and kept using them for 3 years, then when i tried to dial in some nice effects i couldnt remember the advanced tweaking methods (i think if you dont use it often you need a certificate to rem. how to use it ? ?) BUt awsome pedal when you used to it. I just dont like it for blues as it makes the sound way too "digital" and thats when im looking for the fenders true tone as much as possible.

I used the GT-Pro for a few years and while I liked the unit, none of the presets did anything for me, so I wrote all my own from scratch.
It is possible to get great and more importantly, very usable sounds out of the GTs, but takes a little work to tweak them to perfection. Most often it seems to me that guys are overtweaking them - just like most of the presets are overtweaked.

I reckon the problem starts when you try get someone else's tone. Most of the preset's are a little over the top. I want to know which ones aren't.
also creating custom patches is a mission. My Laney amp isn't th emost lively amp, in fact it is as tone-dead as a good PA. so using teh pre-amps sounds good on that. (the Bassman was different altogether, I didn't need effects there)

Hi Donovan,
Have you tried to download new patches from the net?
I have seen tons of them!

I have Paul Hanson's patches. Just need a MIDI cable now.
Does nobody else use the presets? I want to try them before I creat custom patches.

In the chat yesterday AJB shared his
not so
secret tone setting.
Last night I was fiddling and used this similar setting
Pre-amp
: JC Clean,
Gain
at 30%. I set the Bass, Mid and Treble to midway.
Reverb
at 20%
I added a bit of
tremolo
, I lowered the rate and depth so it wasnt as harsh
I play through a Laney TF200 and wa susing a strat. My bass is still a little Boomy from the amp which I am still tweaking ( My 3 year old son messing with it doesnt help...)
I then used the same setting and added the
Tube screamer
with high gain and lower level to get a great bluesy lead tone.
I'll edit this later with the exact settings.
