hi guys here's a great open mic for acoustic musicians who write their own material........... it's for ORIGINAL MUSIC ONLY ....
no covers or backtracks allowed......
if you go expect to play only one song 2 at most as gig is busy ...... but well worth the effort..... i got my cd recorded by neill solomon (who owns Passage One studio's in Jhb) by him seeing me there........ so it truly has the right people there to show your talent to and who knows what can happen........
so try come tonight ...... i should be there.....

RADIUM WAS WAY COOL TONIGHT... I DID NOT RECOGNISE ANY FORUM MEMBERS THAT I KNOW....... BUT THE OPEN MIC WAS OF A GREAT STANDARD ..........the low point was a great guitarist who did 2 songs with backtracks ...which even the hostess Cindy Alter from the old 80's all girl band clout said was an exception to allow the backtrax.... wish they didn't..... ..... seems i'm not alone in this everyone just started fetching their guitars and left ...
but the night had some awesome acts.......
some grungy kurt cobain type singer was awesome.....
and kristal the violinist i work with when i do recitals was there and played solo and with kerry hiles....... she's awesome..... just back from her show in grahamstown.... the interesting thing is she played her "afri-can violin" same people than make the guitars outa old oil tins made here a violin and it sounded awesome .... and nice to see the tin made no significant difference to the tone it still sounded pro level violin.....
gets me thinking i should try get em to make me a nylon... could be a great vibe..... especially on my more african repetoire which i have....
anyway i had a great 2 songs and sold some cd's ... so it became a paying gig for me..... and had fun and networked........
hope some other people from forum make it next month........ it's always 1st monday of every month
peace and light
