hey all
i'm looking at fitting railed 'buckers to a cort strat type guitar. i'm needing an axe that's capable of a full bodied rock sustaining tone like an epi les paul or cort m520/m600 would give. obivously the single coils on my current cort aint really happening in that dept. would rail 'buckers even come close or should i just hunt around for a good quality set neck dual humbucker axe?

Single-coil size rails? Closer to humbuckers in tone and output, but lean a bit towards being a bit brighter and having a more single-coil like attack than full-size 'buckers because of their narrow string sensing widow.
Also bear in mind that the guitar has a lot to say about the tone and a Stratlike instrument will never give you the same sound as a Gibson-like one - even with humbuckers in. Too many differences aside from the pickups - neck joint, scale length, wood choices, frets, etc..

hi alan
yeah man, single coil rails. i am also aware that many strats/strat like guitars have quite a big hollowed out section under their pickguards, and that that would sacrifice alot of 'big rock tone'.

Don't think the small cable rout does nearly as much as the ash or alder body, the bolt-on construction and the maple neck...
