This is a track I'm busy working on...
I only started recording yesterday afternoon, but I think the structure of the song has already taken some sort of shape.
Its my first attempt at 7/4 timing...
Took me a while to get use to phrasing certain sections, but once again if you break it up into small bits it becomes easier.
I'm hoping to complete this and 2 more tracks for an upcoming compilation/collaboration album.
I used my RGA121 prestige and mainly the Evo2 p/up

This is gonna be weak explanation but ill try:
Most music is 4/4 timing : which means if you count it its like (1,2,3,4 1,2,3,4 1,2,3,4 1,2,3,4)
4/4 (The 1st 4 - being the number of beats (4) per bar , the 2nd 4 being the value / type of beat)
7/4 you would count (1,2,3,4,5,6,7 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 1,2,3,4,5,6,7)
7/4 you could also break up as (1,2,3,4 1,2,3 1,2,3,4 1,2,3)
Im busy working on a track now thats 5/4 timing which is basically 4/4 but just got an extra 1 at the end
so it would be (1,2,3,4,5 1,2,3,4,5 1,2,3,4,5 1,2,3,4,5)

i think i have just confused you more with my poop explanation
but seriously try playing in different time signatures ... Its fun
and Cubase allows me to change my Time Track/ MIDI to any time signature ...

I think there's a good chance you own a copy of Dark Side of the Moon, right? OK - listen to Money, which features a 7/4 time signature. Thing is, Gilmour wasn't as good as our Andrew, so listen for when the time signature changes to a regular 4/4 during his solo, because he didn't want to have to think about alternative time beats while he was playing it (it's far more comfortable in the usual 4/4 time). Then listen again when it switches back to 7/4. I think maybe the one thing Andrew didn't say clearly was that for alternative time signatures like 7/4, essentially you're laying seven beats across a bar (or measure) of music, in the same space (period of time) where you'd normally find just four (in conventional rock or pop). So, think about how long it'd take to count out one, two, three, four, and then try to count seven evenly-spaced beats in the same amount of time. That's essentially what they're doing in Money. If you listen along, try count out both the four base beats, and then also the seven beats that ride "on top" of that timing. It means that while you're counting out one, two, three, four, one two...etc, the seven beats will alternate between kinda falling "in time" with what you're counting, and then "out of time" with it again.
Of course, when things get a bit more hectic and technical, not all of the beats have to be evenly spaced, but they'll still be counted all the same. Also, you can lay seven beats over five or whatever you choose; four is not necessarily the measure for the base count. (It just helps to prevent your brain from exploding.)

Almost done with the writing phase. Need to work out the arrangement properly before i head over to Guy's to record it.

Good tone indeed. I dig the "Mushroom" song, a welcome relief from all the other "celestial" influenced songs. ?
To get that fat tone, do your record the lead guitar twice?

Squonk : Sometimes I record the lead guitar twice and pan hard left/right.
But the more complex the melody / lead, the harder this becomes.
A simple vibrato or bend recorded twice could be out of sync with each other.
Sometimes this out of sync character creates a natural "chorus" and sounds cool.
So I guess the idea is to play the melody with accuracy so that you can re-record it almost identically.
Then it sounds like 1 take (but with different timbre or tonal character) and this creates an interesting Stereo effect.
The same applies to rhythm guitar takes.
That little 5/4 "chunk chunk" that you hear on the intro was doubled but it was easy enough to re-record in sync with each other.
The doubling of guitars is the biggest exciting factor for me in recording. Close 2nd is crazy delay/reverb ?
