Some background - I was telling in another thread how an uncle of mine once told me and my cuzzie how the Beatles were pretty much a bunch of nancy boys, while the Stones and the Kinks were the true genuises of their time. Now, me and my cuzzie had back then only recently taken up guitar and were strumming and singing (badly) along to some tabs when he came waltzing into the room, siggie in one hand and a drink in the other, demanding we play him a tune. Pretty soon the discussion centred in on how much better music was in his days. To him todays - or rather 10years ago's- music was absolute rubbish when compared to those of yesteryear. Closest we had was the boybands who resembled the Beatles back in his day. Many moons have passed and I fortunately have learned to judge music on merit rather than reputation. Yet I still dont own a Beatles album, who is by overwhelming consent the greatest band ever. So who else has any stories of how their elders shaped their musical palette, for better or for worse.

I feel like a 45 year old trapped in a 29 year old's body when it comes to music. Since I was very small, all I listened to was 60's and 70's music. Even now, my music collection consists mostly out of oldies. Maybe it's because it just brings back nice memories of my folks listening to it and music I listened to when started to play guitar.
There's not much in today's music that interests me..
