Thanks for the review Trippp - good one! You pretty much confirmed exactly what I expected from the guitar - good with cheaper electronics to keep the price down - exactly the kind of thing I like fiddling with (get thee behind me GAS).
How thick is the neck? Hamer don't list specs on neck thicknesses and widths on those models for some reason. I'm not at my most comfortable on a Gibson scale length at the best of times, but if it's also a small neck, I'd be completely at odds with it.

The amount of different tones available by just using the volume pots is amazing though! Put it on neck+bridge and fiddle with the volume of both pickups - it can keep you busy for quite some time!
That's the secret to a P90 guitar - full throttle, they are throaty rock-oriented single coils. Bring the volume down and they clean up and mellow out a bit. The two-volume design on the Hamers is a good one for P90s.
Are the volume controls independent, or do they react with each other in middle switch position (i.e. if you turn one down completely, do both pickups turn off, like a modern Les Paul)?
I've read the Hamer P90's at full volume sounds like Gibson/PRS one's at about half volume, so they are low-ish output.
Ah. They'll be more articulate then - which I prefer (like the Lollar P90s). Coming from humbucker-land, you might prefer something a bit higher output, like the stock Gibson models (which are very good) or a set of Harmonic Design Z-90s, which are more modern sounding.
Thanks for the review. I'm really glad you're happy with it. Enjoy!
