I agree. I think Chinese stuff needs to be taken on a case by case basis. After all, there was a time when Japan used to make crappy guitars.
I read this big hoo-hah about how ESP-Edwards guitars (ESP's Gibson/Fender replicas) were made in China and only the electronics and final tweaking was done in Japan. But nobody was complaining about the quality of the instruments - which were as flawless as ever.
As their experience in making this stuff increases, some factories will become capable of fantastic work. So if it sounds good, and it works, no problem. It's a celestion blue because it's made to the same specs. It's up to the company doing the contracting to check that the quality is up to snuff. If the Chinese stuff sucks, it's their fault.
Also, R300 a speaker sounds pretty sweet to someone who needs a couple, like yours truly ?
Guys ..guys,,, the point is not whether the Chinese alnicos are inferior to the British speaker, but (according to the threads I was referring to at the top of this page) rather the fact that Vox does not indicate, like on the backplates of the CC amps, that the speakers are ALSO "made in China". It is clear from those threads that some people are unhappy about this very issue.
To be honest I also once had a Chinese CC with blue alnicos and I loved it ! I sold it long before I became aware of this controversy.
Hope that settles the case...regards.
PS: Wish those alnicos were R300....?
