Hi, I'm new to this forum

Hi Everyone,
I am new to this forum. My name is Vic and I live in Stellenbosch.
I collect original/vintage Vox AC30 's and have used these since the British Invasion of the 60's...!
Would love to hear from other Voxoholics on this forum.

Welcome Vic.
I've also recently found this forum and have already learned a lot from the guys. It's like drug - can't stay away from the site.
I'm also from the 60s but alas have never owned a Vox AC30 - to my playing detriment. There's always hope though!

Welcome.

Do you have some pics of those vox AC30's?

Hi Vic - welcome to the forum. I'm an AC15 man myself - the newer Heritage hand wired model though. I've used a fair number of AC30s through the years, but they were always too much a ravening beast when cranked to the point I liked the tone. But I understand the attraction ?

Hi Alan - Nice to meet you.. I normally use a Gibson Les Paul with my AC30 and have found that one can get a very rich and somewhat overdriven tone at failry low volumes.

Hi Pete, nice to meet you. You are most welcome to visit me in Stellies and plug into an AC30.

Hello Vic, welcome to the forum.....sure Alan will be happy to see another Vox fan here.... :-[... just kidding, they are awesome.

I had a Vox AC100 many years ago, and our rhythm guitarist used an AC30....brilliant amps .....until of course......along came the next British invasion together with a mr. Hendrix........ MARSHALL!!!! Goodbye Vox! Hahahaha....... ?
Seriously though, I wish I still had my AC100!! Purely because there were not a helluva lot of them in SA that I knew of!

That richness is why I like Vox - especially with thinner, brighter guitars like Strats and Teles. I prefer to get edge of drive at manageable volumes from single coils then have a bit harder drive if I plug in a humbucker guitar. Even the AC15 can be a bit loud for me at times.

@aubs - never owned a Marshall. I'd rather have an Orange ?

Hahahahaha.......Alaaaannnn, knew I'd get some response!!!! hahahaha...... Still have respect for (UK) Vox!!! ? ? ?
After all The Beatles, Brian May and many others could'nt have been wrong........still my idols, with their Vox tones!

I've never used an Orange, so cannot comment, but heard guys who use them, not bad!
