So GFSA, I have handed in my resignation, goodbye oil industry, hello doing what I want to do.

Congrats, guy. It's more fun without a safety net, anyway. Welcome to the dark side.

Good luck dude!

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
I salute you. I'm an arch conservative when it comes to these things and have seen (with that 20/20 perfect hindsight) many great opportunities pass just because I was scared to take the leap! So well done! ?

Well done! I still remember how that feels like. Keep your energy high and you'll always find a way through!

I certainly hope you succeed ?

Thanks all.
I've been contempating for a while now and while seeking advice I found a lot of people who aren't doing what they love, they are just doing what they can. I've been sitting in my comfort zone for too long and as soon as I cut it off, I felt incredible.
Sure I'm going to have to work really hard, but like all the greats in every field, thats what it takes.
as for my plans Keira, I am going to do everything I possibly can. From teaching to radio ads to session work and web design. I also plan to get a few bands under my management eye as well as try get my foot into the theatre productions as well.
It sounds like a lot but I have prioritised and planned and I look forward to my challenges. Watch this space...

thats awesome donavan , yeah the management thing sounds interesting ....
cos you know in SA management ...i don't mean agents now..... are so few and far between and very few are good..... and for any emerging artist a descent manager is critical.... someone who spends a few hours each day trying to improve your visibility and gigs/festivals....
slightly off topic but i have been searching for a manager who is connected to acoustic world and here in SA it's near impossible... i even asked guy buttery , who tours a lot and he does his own management.... hey so maybe theres a hole in the market
yeah good luck once more and hey when your management company is off the ground give me a shout..... maybe my people can do lunch with your people and we can do some biz
peace and blessings
Keira

I am going to learn zulu and Xhosa as well.
I met a guy at work who could sing so well, yet we had a language barrier. He was so passionate and I failed to help him because I expected him to be able to communicate with me. what a waste.
I have a good feeling, now I just need to stay humble, work hard and appreciate those around me (like the support form this forum, thanks again. You rock!) Maybe Alan will write a book about me lol...
