Weird Coincidences

This month has just been full of weird coincidences. It started with seeing a woman's a painting that looks almost exactly like one of mine. Okay, that's not that weird, but there's more.... The Leonard Cohen song started popping up everywhere. After posting about it after my cousin played it for me(to show off his new headphones) I spoke to my mom the next day and my mom said she was learning a Leonard Cohen song for her friend, guess which one. Then on Monday I went to the open mic night at the Barleycorn, guess what, someone does a cover of the Leonard Cohen song, Hallelujah. One could still say that's not too weird. But there's more. I've been thinking of writing a blog on teaching guitar. I've been thinking about all the material that is available as well as the tecnological advancements that are changing musical understanding and tutoring and have come up with what I think is a nice cohesive gluey formula that explains a lot of the confusing elements of music. It's not to say that a lot of the information out there is bad. On the contrary, with the internet making it possible to share so many teaching methods, a super-ulitimate teaching method can be gleaned from all this information. Not only that, but new tecnological advances have to be encorporated to make information current. And this can save a lot of people a lot of time hurting their head over something that can be realy simple. Let alone providing education to people who may not have had access to it previously. So,yesterday on my search for finding useable material I found a link to a blog of a music teacher Catherine Schmidt-Jones . She speaks my language to say the least. And my first thought was, cool, I had the same idea, followed by, why should I bother then. I then noticed that she was part of a group that shares information called Connexions. I didn't look into it more because I had other things to do. I didn't realise how big of an idea it was. Today I was house sitting for my brother. And while keeping his cats company I decided to look at one of his TED talks. For those who are not familiar with them, THEY"RE AWESOME. People who are very clever get to show how clever they are. If you look them up you'll find them quite easily. I randomly chose one and to my surprise it was the creator of Connexions. WOW.I won't try explaining the whole idea, as it'll take a bit of time, but IT'S AWESOME. I thnk it's a major advancement in education, BRAVO. The guy's name is Richard Baraniuk. He can explain the idea a lot better than I can. He also mentioned the music teacher I found and apparently her lessons are very popular and usefull. Well, Thanks for reading my long post

That would explain it. As for the painting, I don't see it as being plagerism, because I know that she hadn't seen my painting or vice versa. I don't know her, but it is not such a stretch of the imagination to have come across a painting similar to mine in style and subject matter. There are certian media that, used by similar people, would open up avenues of self expression that would produce similar paintings.

As for Allan Holdsworth, WOW, that's realy cool, I'll look him up.

I am trying to erase large chunks of the 80s from my memory. Mostly a lot of very dodgy records with bombastic productions, with covers that featured people with lots of hair and ridiculous jackets. It was hard to avoid some dodgy fashions because that's all the shops sold. One did one's best under the circumstances.

Not too sure if this is slightly off-topic, but anyway thought it may be interesting to JH fans. The last song/lyrics JH wrote (the night before he died, Friday September 17th, 1970) had the last verse:
