Tips On Photographing your Axe.....

Ok, this is clearly not for pro photographers who have studio lights.......but to everyone else who needs to get a "decent" pic of your favourite axe..........

1. If you're using the built-in flash, on your camera or cell phone, DO NOT SHOOT THE GUITAR STRAIGHT ON, (you get that annoying blob of flash on the guit..) turn the guitar a few degrees OFF "centre", and shoot a few frames, turning the guitar ever so slightly every time......then choose the best one.........

2. If you want to shoot it outside WITHOUT flash......Shoot it preferably in the shade! NO UGLY HARSH SHADOWS......and try to avoid unwanted REFLECTIONS, especially your own....again keep moving it around and see which is the best angle/pic.......

There is nothing more annoying looking at an amazing Custom LP, Strat, Cort, Ibanez or your prized Amp or Acoustic that is "snapped" and it looks like a dogs breakfast!!!! ???

Guud tips!

I was playing guitar in the lounge and my Dad took a foto of me.......I went trough the foto's yesterday and quess who's reflection I saw.....JACOB ZUMA!!! ??? Whahahahahhaaaaaa.....that was a bit of a surprise.

Thanks aubs. Stupid question though, how do you post pics on the site with the minimum amount of schlepp. Do I use a sharing site like photobucket or will plain old copy and paste do? What do you prefer?

Photobucket seems the way to go, even I wish it was as easy as "click and drag" or "copy and paste".......

Also remember to clean and wipe down your guitar properly before taking pictures. Smudgy fingermarks does not look good on photos... ?

Good point CDee.......that should be quite obvious though.....

Check out the "My Gear" page, Blues, under "Enjoy....." also see "Eli's new toy, his first guitar......" and "Yep there it is...." (which was shot with a built-in flash), Here are examples of 2 of my Acoustics..........did not spend too much time on the backgrounds though.......

Note though that these tips are just simply for non-pro photos, obviously only to get decent pics........ 8)
