MikeM Hey guys So I got myself a 3 way rotary switch, wired in 3 diff caps. Sounds pretty cool, but now my issue is that the tone control is basically a switch, there's no taper or anything, on or off. I bought a "tone" pot from TerryD and assumed it's a linear pot. Vol and tone are 500k. Any ideas why this is happening? Cheers Mike
AlanRatcliffe Are you sure about the pot values? Do you have a multimeter to check the actual resistance and the resistance at the halfway point? If the resistance between wiper and lug at halfway through the pot's travel is 10% or 90% (depending on which lug you check), it's log. If it's 20/80, it's audio and if it's 50/50, it's linear. Some "custom taper: pots will be 70/30 or there abouts (usually so they can use them for both tone and volume). Are there any markings on the pot, like an A or B? Something like B500K or 500K B? A is linear (NOT A for "Audio" as some think), B is log.
