Some of you may have heard me play this old English song. My version is a nod at and a small tribute to John Martyn. Here it is performed by the man himself...
Martyn plays this with a really lovely feel. And check out that right hand - thumb and one finger.
Nice vocal as well. IMO Martyn is underrated as a singer.
Slightly different lyrics from those that I sing. This is not unusual in the case of English folk song: songs were not written down and sometimes the lyrics were changed in the passing on. The lyrics I use are those that the Copper Family sang.

John Martyn is surely a brilliant singer and musician........... nice one Bob, will make an effort to come listen to you perform one of these days when the pressure of work subsides!
What do you think of Loreena McKennit? She plays the harp though, I'm referring to English folk music, and her as a singer.....! Quite different from JM.
I have one of her albums, introduced to me by, believe it or not, my wife, who is an Afrikaner from Nylstroom!!!! ? ?
