TomCat @ Donovan HeHe......I was waiting for the reaction...... ? ? I think ME's are great if you spend a lot of time setting up what you want and you get to know the unit VERY WELL. I have found generally with guys at our church for exhample. who often spend more time on stage trying to get their tone / effect right than actually practicing the songs....... ??? ??? I built a simple pedal board for my wife. It has two OD's, Chorus, Delay and Volume pedal. Easy to use and quick to change anything...At a glace you see everything.... I'm not saying ME's are bad....just they require a particular approach to get the most out of them. Having now said that....I mix on a complex digital mixer that would be quite comfortable in any airline cockpit....... ? ?.....I have however invested much time with the console to get myself to the point where any function on the console has become a natural instinct and not have to thing about where...what etc.
DonovanB oh, you are referring to Multi-effects in general and not the Boss ME-20/50.... In fact, the main reason I got one is because I wanted more effects, like a decent wah and a flanger and tremolo. but to buy all that would have cost me a few limbs. I pretty much have mine set up like individual stomp boxes using different banks for different configurations. It really is freaking awesome.
Renesongs inflames wrote I know there is a Boss GT-8 for sale on Gumtree cape town. R2000 You can't go wrong with the GT-8! Where and when did you see that ?
inflames Hi Rene, I just tried to find it again, but the user must have sold it and deleted his post. I could not believe the price when I saw it! _-L-_
deanBailey I plan on getting a GT10 (pretty much in this week) for a cover band I play in but was just curious; how does the actual tone of the effects, from the tone lab sound compared to the GT10?
AlanRatcliffe Six of one, half a dozen of the other, some FX are nicer out the box on the GT, some are better on the Tonelab. The GT has so many ways you can tweak things that it wins out for me though. To my ear, the GTs generally are not as authentically vintage and realistic sounding as the Vox, but they produce tones that work in the context of the mix, especially given a bit of tweaking to taste. IMO of course.
nick_D01 just thought i'd chime in ? : the gnx3/gnx4 has a looper built in, plus phrase trainer as well, and a drum machine. and its got footswitch operation of those too.
Dirk Renesongs wrote Where and when did you see that ? I know Music Connection in JHB had about three selling for R2500 about 3 months ago. They're not that difficult to get.
deanBailey Lol I never saw that Digitech picture the first time I visited this thread. I THIINK Michael Amott used that multi pedal when Carcass came to SA last year and played Witchfest. I just know it was a digitech-multi but could get close enough to see the model or make out any other features.
