Dwindling guitar collection

OK, so, since I gave my 12-string acoustic to Tailon, I have three guitars left... And once MikeM takes the Squier, I'll be down to two lean, mean Strat machines.

From left: 1972 American Strat, bought this at the beginning of 1996; 1994 Foto Flame Japanese Strat (complete with irritating Floyd Rose II), bought this last week (currently being rewired to deal with Overzealous Soldering Moron (OSM) syndrome); Squier Affinity Series Strat, which I won in 2000.

And this is my GT-8, my Peavey Bandit 150W, and my cat, Nietzsche, who has excellent taste.

My drummer has an '80s Japanese Tele I have my eye on...but he's asking too much for it right now. ?

That old Strat is the apple of my eye, the lead in my pencil, the toothpick that keeps my hamburger together.

Northern hard ash if it's anything like the other early '70s models I've seen. Bright, articulate - work well with hotter pickups as a rockier Strat.

That would help like a hole in the head! But thanks for the offer! Alan quite rightly said those early '70s Strats are "dogs"... But I got a good one, and I don't think I'll ever sell it.

Over the years I've had guitars come and go. None of them were ever "collectors items" but they each served a purpose over a period.
A short scale beginner's guitar when I turned 12.
A nylon string Flamenco when the previous one got stolen.
A dreadnought that travelled into SWA/Angola during my conscription.
A 12 String during my young parenting years.
A Peavey T60 after my divorce
A strat copy
more dreadnoughts and a couple of bass guitars as I found it difficult to get bassists to join my bands and decided to do the job myself and make way for the new generation of guitar wizzkids.

Each guitar came and went and there are only two or three in my collection at one time.

I recently met a dude that kept his entire collection all the years... There's the old beginners 6 string hanging on the wall along side the beaten up sticker filled surfer's special, right up to the current genuine Strats and LP's that are still in use.

It is impressive and it does make me yearn to see that old Concord hanging on my wall. ☹
