Hi all. I am looking for a delay pedal that has a dotted 8th note delay setting. I understand that on the boss dd5 and dd7 it can be tapped in. But I am looking for a pedal that has this particular setting so that ìt does not have to be tapped in. Thanks

what about the boss DD-20?
I havent tried one out yet.

Tell me more about dotted 8th note delays ed.
I am ok with electronics, but sometimes battle with musical concepts. I am always researching and keen to start making good, solid, low cost pedals that perform well so that us SAffers can have a break from heavy exchange rates and import duties.

Yup the Boss DD-20 can do it. Not many pedals can, because it requires you to enter the tempo you are working at (if it doesn't know the tempo, it can't figure out the note values, can it?). So tap tempo is commonly used to set the tempo in pedals (where you still have to set the note value though), while preset tempo settings are more commonly found in software delays and those that can synch to a host via wordclock.

I think in order of expense (and features), these will do it:
Boss DD-20
Line 6 DL4
TC Electronics Nova Delay
Eventide TimeFactor
RE expense I'm basing it on the USA street prices, with local agents you might find one is more expensive than another... weird... but true.
Some will require you to 'tap it in', but ALL allow you to save it once tapped as a 'preset' for future jamming.
Cheers

+1 for the Nova delay. A bit expensive but I love it. Built really well and has great features, provided you're gonna use them. I use that and my DD-5.

The Line 6 DL-4 is a great delay pedal. It knocks the boss out the water in its tone. But the boss has more delays and features.. I can't comment on the others, but i do love TC electronics! ?

I have a DD-20, really easy to get the dotted 8th sound. just hit the tempo button till you reach the setting, then tap or dial in your tempo. voila!
