Intro to my Metal album

While I always have a lot of ideas for doing slow tempo songs with clean bits, I never really get around to recording any of them. My goal for this year is to complete a ten track instrumental metal album (purely for my own satisfaction) ? This is the intro to the album that I wrote yesterday and recorded today.

I really like it, although the chopper and police siren isn't really working for me. The guitars sound good and I like the the mellowness. This is just my completely unknowledgable opinion, but I wouldn't use this song at the start of the album, because compared to your other song I've downloaded it is not going to link well if your other songs is going to be in the same style as the "latest new metal offering" I've downloaded.

Sorry if I've talked a lot of shit, but it is hard to explain what I'm thinking. You get what I mean?

Sounds really good, i like the samples you put in their, gives the song atmosphere, although you could make it shorter and let the first guitar start a bit sooner building up to 23seconds where the drum roll and lead guitar comes in.

The quality sounds pretty good, it could do with a warm bass guitar sound to get it sounding a bit fuller, maby even some soft violins or a cello?

Why not make it a long instrumental song, kind of like orion from metallica?

Haha ya I get it I think. I definately won't put this right before the other song I've uploaded cos it would clash. Listening to it again the chopper and siren do seem a bit random. All I was doing was trying to add some texture or atmosphere.

I've gone back and made the clean guitar start 4 bars earlier, so now it starts as soon as the chopper fades out. That'll make the sound effects part seem shorter as well.

I tried to put in a bass line.. but I don't have a bass guitar and simulating it with my epiphone didn't sound too great. I'll keep working on it though. I would love to put in some strings but I really don't have a clue about VST's etc. I downloaded the demo of Absynth but for some reason besides from the first time opening the program all the patches are incredibly crackly. I dunno what it is, I know it's not my speakers.

If I had enough ideas for a long instrumental song I would do it.. but I sort of come up with one idea and find myself unable to develop it into a full length song. :-\

I downloaded the demo of Absynth

its because its a demo, they just give you enough time to listen to what it sounds like and program this random noise in the vst, so basically you have to go out and buy it.

Try adding some suprises in the song, maby even build up to heavier guitars.

Good thinking ? Maybe If I find a huge wad of cash down the side of my couch I'll buy a cheap one ?

I use mackie tracktion 3, it's way better than Reaper in my opinion in terms of ease of use. But what really sux is that I haven't been able to assign my keyboard as a midi instrument for input in VST's.

It sounds awesome! For some reason i feel a pantera / dimebag darrel track following up on that intro!!! Prolly cos it makes me feel of cemetry gates and its no insult, one of the best metal tracks ever.

If that's the intro, i cant wait to hear the rest, keep it comming!

Thanks a lot dude I appreciate it! I'm going to release the rest of the tracks as I finish them, but it could be a while until I finish another one. I'm on holiday now so I'll try work flat out on them. ?
