If it's set at the exact zero point, it will.
For years I had the Hohner made Steinberger that locked - Brilliant design (cheap metals though). Simply lock the bridge, replace strings, tune up and release the lock. In tune every time. If you wanted to drop tune, lock and then retune. If you changed brands of strings or gauge so the tension balance was off, you could adjust the spring tension from the top with no tools.
Could have been the best trem ever, but unfortunately Hohner made them from cheap, cast metal that wasn't up to the job, and the posts used to end up leaning as the base they were screwed into bent.
