SvR65 Hi Guys, I was fortunate enough to trade in my old Cort for a new M-Audio Fast Track. I wanted it for very basic 'bedroom recordings', linking it to my laptop. All went well, except... the recordings, when playing back, is extremely soft! ? What I can figure is that this problem is due to a lack of decent sound card/ preamp! Does anyone know what will remedy this problem? Any external sound card or additional preamp or anything?! Please guys!
Manfred-Klose I'm am also using a fast track pro, mine is working perfectly. Do you monitor with headphones or use the output to speakers(soundcard >> amp >> speakers)? You'll notice 2 volume knobs marked mix and output, try adjusting them, it will most probably be the mix volume knob, also try pressing the A/B switch and see if it makes a differrence. What model do you have?
SvR65 I've got the Fast Track USB... the model just beneath yours Manfred. So it doesn't have a preamp built in, unfortunately. I think I might've explained the problem incorrectly: The playback is quite fine, the actual problem is the recorded signal. So within the program I'm using I have to boost it considerably in order to hear anything (and even then it is very soft/weak)... My laptop doesn't have a fancy soundcard - just the standard/ onboard one it was purchased with. So in saying that - any advice??
Manfred-Klose What mic are you using? IS it only with the mic or also with the guitar input? The maudio preamps dont do much mine is also poor in volume, try switching between the guitar and line switch at the back, it will have a 60db differrence in volume between mic and line(mic being the louder one).

SvR65 I have given the mic a bash, but only once, and even that is soft... I'll try playing around with the switches again, and try your advice on switching between guitar/line and see if it helps!
