What tune in your playlist/radio are you listening to currently? I'm digging Danzig so far.

Anyone recognise the familiar drum lick at the breakdown?

I've just gotten home from todays gig where before the gig i popped into a cd store and found and bought the cd re master of wes montgomery's 1st recording done in .1960 in new york called ' the incredible guitar of wes montgomery ' it's a highly recommended cd by both critics and musicians . Listened to it once through and all i can say is wow . I have another wes cd on order from musica so impatiently waiting . This cd cost the price of one guitar lesson but sure i'll reap a lifetime of musical knowledge from it.

That Wes Montgomery album is amazing, I absolutely love it as well!

Mr Big. The opening track from their latest (and live) album, called Live From The Living room, recorded in 2010.

Brilliant stuff. Acoustic hard rock like only they can do. They are still incredibly tight, and just full of groove.

The Black Keys - Thickfreakness

Loving this album for the umpteenth time now ?

I miss big hair bands, a.k.a. it takes a real man to pull of a guitar THAT pink... ?

Julie Fowlis - Cuilidh

She's from the Hebrides and she sings in Gaelic. I haven't a clue what she's on about, but I quite like it.

Terry Lee Hale - The Blue Room

XRB has posted a lot about Terry on the forum already. A great album with just the bare essentials: Guitar, Voice, Harmonica, a bit of slide and some alternate tunings. Americana at it's best. Strange that he is not more well known.

Kansas - Leftoverture

Not quite as good as I remembered it, but surely one of rocks finer moments in the opening track "Carry on the Wayward Son"

Bob-Dubery

PJ Harvey - Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea

Amazing that there are some good moments on this album. "Miracles out of Nowhere" - Prog Rock at it's best, Robby Steinhardt the Violinist sings lead vocals and matches lead vocalist Steve Walsh.

It's growing on me again

Listening to West African (Senegalese) rhythms ...... Youssou N'Dour's "The Guide" (Wommat).

He plays an awesome version of Bob Dylan's "Chimes of Freedom" .......

......... and with Peter Gabriel -

Ah! That's interesting to me. I saw him at the Amnesty International concert in Harare in '88. He went on early with the big stars going on later. I was expecting some fireworks from Sting and Peter Gabriel who had bands loaded with jazz and top session players, but the real sophistication and excellence came from N'Dour's band. They were terrifically good.

Anyhoo... every concert in that tour ended with all the artists coming on stage for a joint rendition of "Chimes of Freedom."

Richard & Linda Thompson - In Concert, November 1975.

So much for "folk". There's not one bit of acoustic guitar on this, loads of solos and by the end, on a cinema seat slashing cover of Jerry Lee Lewis's "It'll Be Me", the energy levels are cranked way up.

Malkav

It's a bit uncharacteristically heavier than I normally go but I've been enjoying the new Veil of Maya album Eclipse.

The break at 2:05 is both hilarious and awesome ?

i'm revisiting my sonic youth. not the band, sorry, that only just occurred to me, but the stuff i grew up listening to, the stuff my folks listened to. the beatles, elton john, the (early, thank god) bee gees, the doors, queen, csn (and sometimes y), that type of stuff. guess i'm reliving my latter childhood.

Good Stuff Dom, I am actually doing the same(Obviously not the same music...) and it's been quite a journey. I already did the first six Queen Albums, amazing how good a player Brian May is. Have a good trip
