I used to have an early CD copy of this. What a rip off. It put me off buying any more pre-Atlantic Stones records for years, because they couldn't be bothered to remaster them. Sh** like this is a big part of how the "vinyl is better" movement could get started. Anyway, I've finally got a remastered copy and I'm listening to this very familiar record on repeat for the first time in nearly 20 years.
I'm also hearing it differently when I realise that Mick and Keith had just narrowly escaped serious jail sentences and were feeling both relieved and at the same time betrayed by the society they lived in for trying to make an example of them.
