What tune in your playlist/radio are you listening to currently? I'm digging Danzig so far.

Also, the 40 Watt has to be one of the coolest club names I've heard in a while..

This guy has some pipes... Been listening to a band he was in (just as guitarist) All Get Out, over and over for ages, then found he'd gone solo and I only recently bought his album online.

This dude seriously rocks my world. I was watching his Seattle radio interview and performance tonight, and was saying to wife, this entire genre of music is pretty much retired, and performed by legends, like Hendrix, SRV and the likes. Its a godsend that someone like him at (20 oddish) was born to keep this stye and artistry alive. He has my respect ?

Donald Fagen - The Night Fly. Meticulous. I like Larry Carlton's playing on this: Great bends and vibrato. It's a fabulous recording - listen to this one on the cans.

The Zombies - Odessey and Oracle.

And that IS how it's spelled. I checked.

This is supposed to be one of THE sixties records. It's not as drenched in psychedelia and incense (and other stuff that we won't talk about) as the Incredible String Band's two classic albums, but it's still pretty darn good and a fine advertisement for 60s pop. In fact it may have aged better than many of it's contemporary albums as it's largely devoid of gimmicks that were fashionable back then but sound corny now. What you do get are very strong melodies (seriously, right up there in Paul territory) and superb vocal arrangements, fully comparable with the Beach Boys or the Beatles or anybody else you care to think of from that time or a couple of years later. The sleeve isn't even that embarrassing.

I am quite amazed at Ian Anderson's acoustic guitar skills...this was just after Songs from the Wood, so lot's of acoustic guitar, accordion, glockenspiel etc.

Well I got some nice news yesterday. See, I've had several CDs just grow legs. I don't want to accuse anybody of being light fingered, and I suspect a lot of the leg growth happened when we moved house a couple of years ago.

Anyhoo, having searched high and low I put them on my "must buy" list (mostly in the hope that they would then magically reappear - but no).

Then I got an email from Amazon yesterday, saying that I am now entitled to free downloads of the digital versions of several CDs I bought from them. Joy oh boy! There goes the bandwidth.

Anyhoo... I promptly went out and grabbed (as, per Amazon, I am entitled to) John Hiatt's Slow Turning. My default position is that everything Hiatt did either side of Bring The Family stinks to some degree, but this is actually not bad and the closing sequence of songs is really very good. Sonny Landreth and Bernie Leadon are in the band, so the stringed instrument side is taken care of.

Pink Floyd - Piper at the Gates of Dawn

Dustin Kensrue - Please Come Home

I kinda like his stuff.

Does anyone know of other musicians that I can look into?

You know your stuff ?
There are a lot of write ups on the net, with company's accrediting Scott Ian's intro clean tone's to their pedals, like Digitech, Fender etc... but in an interview I heard him mention he was using a TC Electronics Corona Chorus. meh... ?

Tesla - Five Man Accoustical Jam (The Trocadero, in Philly - "Comin' Atcha Live/Truckin'" Grateful Dead cover)

? none other than Brad Paisley ......... one of my students loaned me the entire cd collection ....... cos they knew i loved telecasters and tele tone ...

i did know of him before ..and own one of his cd's i bought at that time .... but this collection of 4 cd's allowed me to find some gems........ i missed the 1st time i gave him a serious listen

lyrics wise .... a lot of humour and some very cheesy lines ..... but the lightning guitar fills in the songs and ripping solo's are where the magic lies.........

i also skipped over the ballads.... not my scene

another tele maestro ......... and if you watch the vids check out the DrZ "trainwreck" amps behind him way way way cool .......

even if you not a country fan ... look past that and check out the playing ....awesome tele/DrZ tone .... but his playing is incredible
