I've been watching this concert every few days for the last few weeks...well playing it on my headphones as I am at work...dont really get to watch much.

I'm trying to get someone to convert it to CD for me first, will make a plan though as I have some old Urban Assault lying around as well on tape.

Oh yes please! Plug your tape deck into the pc line in ? I've mp3'd most of my tape collection.

Little Feat - Waiting for Columbus. The live album they recorded as the band was in turmoil and heading for more of the same. The lineup is augmented by the Tower of Power horn section, who are fab every time they appear.

Sometimes the sum is greater than the parts. They don't really have an outstanding guitarist (Lowell George has great slide tone), and the songs aren't great (lots of them thinly disguised metaphors for things you wouldn't discuss with the vicar over tea, or just plain smutty jokes), but overall it's very good. Bill Payne is the stand out soloist, and the rhythm section of Clayton, Gradney and Hayward lays down a great groove.

If you only buy one Little Feat album then get this one... most of their best numbers are here, and the live energy makes it all sound a bit better.

A student brought me a Machineri disc just now. Dig this woman's voice on the first track "Soul People". Absolutely love it. Kind of sold... but I'll have to wait till it irritates me or I become enamoured before I can truly say sold. Hmmmm

Fleetwood Mac - Boston Blues

Not the same live disc that Singemonkey has been recommending, but compiled from the same live recordings made in 1970.

It is fab. This is a seriously great band in magical live form. It reminds me that I once loved the blues and why.

Great performances, and the guitarists.... these guys can blow for 10, 15 minutes and it never gets boring. The band's sense and control of dynamics is so good, the guitarists are skilled and resourceful.

Money very well spent.

Reunion albums don't always work, but this one does. 14 years after the breakup they get back together and produce perhaps their finest album. The twin guitar attack of Tom Verlaine and Richard Lloyd is as potent as ever. Lloyd is in particularly fine form. Verlaine's songwriting is sharp.
